The Government of India, during the 1950s, introduced the Craftsmen Training Scheme, under which a series of government-managed Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and privately-run Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) were set up across the varied Indian states. The objective was to develop a pool of skilled manpower resources for meeting the labor requirements of the country’s varied industries.

The ITIs and ITCs are deemed as post-secondary schools; and are governed by the Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET), the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the Union Government of India. Presently, in India, there are more than 14,000 vocational training centers that include over 2000 ITIs and over 12000 ITCs.

The management affairs of the technical training centers are overseen by the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) that works at the National level; at the state level, the SCVT works as per the NCVT’s guidelines.

دولت هند در طی دهه 1950 برنامه آموزش مهارت های هنرمندان را معرفی کرد که تحت آن تعدادی از موسسات آموزشی صنعتی تحت مدیریت دولتی و مراکز آموزش خصوصی خصوصی (ITCs) در سراسر کشورهای مختلف هند تاسیس شد. هدف این بود که مجموعه ای از منابع نیروی انسانی ماهر را برای برآورده ساختن نیازهای نیروی کار صنایع متنوع کشور تدوین نماید.

ITIs و ITCs به عنوان مدارس پس از دبستان محسوب می شوند؛ و توسط اداره کل اشتغال و آموزش (DGET)، وزارت توسعه مهارت و کارآفرینی، دولت اتحادیه هند اداره می شود. در حال حاضر، در هند، بیش از 14،000 مرکز آموزش حرفه ای وجود دارد که شامل بیش از 2000 ITI و بیش از 12000 ITC است.
